Lip-Sync Battle Fundraiser

Lip-Sync Battle Fundraiser

Sami Windle Events

The High Plains Museum will host a Lip-Sync Battle Fundraiser on March 28, 2020 at the Elks Lodge.  The evening will include a BBQ dinner and family friendly entertainment.

All ages are welcome to come to this fundraiser, but you must be 18 years or older to participate in the Lip-Sync Battle.  Tickets will cost $30.00 per adult and $15.00 for children 12 and under and are available at the museum; tickets will be requested upon entrance to the event.  Doors will open at 5:30, dinner will be served at 6:00 and our battle will commence at 7:00.  Registration is required to compete in the battle, with forms available at the High Plains Museum.  Participants are encouraged to come as their favorite artist or group with costumes and props.  Three winners will be selected with help from the audience, winning a cash prize.

Supporting this fundraiser would help the museum renovate the entrance of the museum.  The museum’s board and staff have completed a Strategic Plan that includes updating the front entrance of the museum.  This would result in a new look for the interior and exterior of the museum’s entrance.  A major concern has been the integrity of the front wall with the entrance doors; the wall is showing wear and tear and is letting in water and dirt.  In order to fix the wall, we would replace the joints and weather-strips to keep the elements out, as well as replace the orange panels on the outside with UV-protected glass.  This would not only fix the wall problem, but would make for a more attractive front façade.

The inside entry would be updated as well.  Double doors would be installed to help keep temperature steady inside the building.  New LED lights and new flooring would be installed.  To help the entryway look more uniform, drywall would be placed over the different wall materials in the entryway.  A photographic wrap, using photographs from our collection, would be installed over the drywall to tell the history of Goodland through photographs.  This would give the entryway a more professional and attractive look.  It would also offer a new way to interact with visitors and show the progression of Goodland’s history.

We would like to extend the invitation to the whole community to come to the Lip-Sync Battle, whether actively participating in the battle or being our audience: it will be a night of fun, food and music for a great cause.  Please contact the museum at 785-890-4595 or museum@cityofgoodland.org if you have any questions.
