High Plains Museum, Bison Exhibit

Goodland – The traveling exhibit “Bison” is coming to the High Plains Museum, January 23 through mid-March.  This exhibit will explore the past, present and future of our state and national mammal.  Patrons can expect an interactive environment that combines history, artifacts and hands-on activities to bring to life the story of this great North American mammal. It’s Construction Zone time at the High Plains Museum for First Saturday programming!  This Saturday we will be learning about the different types of bridges.  Once you’ve learned about a bridge try and built it using Imagination Playground!  Construction Zone is a come and go event held at the High Plains Museum from 1-5 PM.


First Saturday programming kicks off this Saturday, February 1st with Construction Zone!  Between 1:00-5:00 PM we will feature the beginnings of building.  Learn what it takes to start building and then make your own creation with Imagination Playground!  Construction Zone is a come and go event for families here at the High Plains Museum.

The High Plains Museum was selected as one of only six Kansas host organizations for “Hometown Teams,” a Smithsonian Institution traveling exhibition coming to Kansas in 2015. The High Plains Museum’s exhibit Connecting Lives Sharing Culture: 100 Years of AFS is closing January 11th. The closing reception for the exhibit will be held this Saturday from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. The High Plains Museum will be closed Wednesday January 1 for the holiday.  We will reopen Thursday January 2 at 9:00 AM.  This is also your last chance to see the exhibit “Connecting Lives Sharing Culture: 100 Years of AFS” as the exhibit will close January 11.  Have a safe and happy new year!


Join us this Saturday, December 7th, from 1:00 to 5:00 PM for Christmas around the world at the High Plains Museum.
